September 9, Fineko/abc.az. Alphabet’s Google has committed to investing at least €13 billion ($15.1 billion) over the next two years to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure in Finland, while also securing its first nuclear energy purchase agreement outside the United States.
Under a 22-year power purchase agreement with Finnish energy operator Fortum, Google will acquire up to 50% of the output from one of Finland's two nuclear power plants. Google projects that the mega-investment will boost Finland's gross domestic product (GDP) by $3.6 billion. The decision highlights Finland's cool climate and abundant low-carbon energy grid as key strategic drivers for data center expansion.
